Congressional briefing to be sponsored by RPPI

The most innovative corporate programs designed to accommodate workers' family responsibilities and the newest research on integrating work, family, and community will be the focus of a congressional briefing on Thursday, June 12, that features business leaders from around the nation, labor leaders, and members of Congress. The event is cosponsored by the Radcliffe Public Policy Institute and the Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues and takes place at 8:30 a.m. in the Cannon House Office Building, Room #121.

The briefing is designed to provide important background information for members of Congress to consider as they evaluate a range of work-family legislation.

Lamont Library establishes new circulation policies

Loan Period Extended: As of June 11, the loan period for general circulation books will be increased to 28 days (rather than 14 days). This loan period is applicable to everyone, including Summer School students. If recalled for another patron, items may be due after only 14 days. This does not include any items on reserve.

E-mail/Web renewals: General circulation items (again, not reserve items) may be renewed via e-mail or the World Wide Web. The URL is: www.fas.harvard.edu/~reshila/renew.html. At that site you will see a form for renewing up to 15 items at one time. You will need your Harvard ID, e-mail address, the bar code number of the item, and the call number of the item. The e-mail address is: lamcirc@fas.harvard.edu. You can request a form via that e-mail address in order to renew items. You may renew items

up to five times total (either by e-mail or in person). There are no

telephone renewals.

Alumnus/a Borrowing Privileges: Upon purchase of a Harvard College Library Special Borrower Card, an alumnus/a of Harvard or Radcliffe colleges is now entitled to borrow material from the general circulating collections at Hilles and Lamont libraries. Borrowing privileges for College alumni/ae do not extend to the reserve collections of Hilles and Lamont, nor to nonprint material (CDs, videos, etc.) in the Morse Music Library at Hilles.

An alumnus/a of Harvard and/or Radcliffe College who has already purchased an HCL Special Borrower Card must present his or her old card at the Library Privileges Office, Widener 195, and receive a new card, which will have a designation of "C" (for College) in the lower right corner, in order to be eligible to borrow material at Hilles and Lamont.

Please note that this new patron category is for alumni/ae of Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges only. It does not extend to GSAS alumni/ae, or alumni/ae of other faculties.
