Five seniors picked for Rockefeller Fellowships

The Michael C. Rockefeller Memorial Fellowships Administrative Board has announced the selection of five graduating seniors for its 2002-03 fellowships. Rockefeller Fellowships contribute $14,000 toward one year of purposeful postgraduate immersion in a foreign culture. The candidates - all at critical stages in their development - must feel a compelling need for a new and broadening experience.

The five recipients are Anjanette Chan Tack of Leverett House, Dorothy Fortenberry of Leverett House, David Mihalyfy of Kirkland House, Ruth O'Meara-Costello of Currier House, and Daniel Vazquez of Mather House.

Anjanette Chan Tack will travel to India, where she will work with several nongovernmental organizations concerned with marginalized populations; Dorothy Fortenberry will travel to Haiti, where she will work with troubled youth using theater as a form of empowerment; David Mihalyfy will travel to Siberia, where he will connect with a community that speaks the dying language of Nikvh; Ruth O'Meara-Costello will travel to Italy and work on organic farms; and Dan Vazquez will travel to Mexico City where he will work with street children.
