HARVARD GAZETTE ARCHIVES
HUPD helps you to play it safePublished annually, "Playing It Safe" provides an overview of HUPD and its operations, as well as information on such issues as calling the police/reporting a crime, emergency numbers, blue-light emergency phones, crime prevention tips, laptop and bicycle registration, substance abuse prevention, sexual assault and rape - including RAD, the rape aggression defense program - safety escorts, and criminal statistics. Students have received the booklet in their registration packets. Faculty and staff will receive "Playing It Safe" in the mail. Though the HUPD Web site covers all of the information included in "Playing It Safe," the revised site provides members of the Harvard community with a host of useful services. For instance, the public can register their bicycles and laptops online, sign up for automatic distribution of community advisories, view the latest HUPD news, report a crime anonymously, contact their geographically based community policing team, and commend or make a complaint against an officer. For more information or to request additional copies of "Playing It Safe," contact Steven G. Catalano at (617) 495-9225.
