HARVARD GAZETTE ARCHIVES
Australian fellowship open to Harvard studentsThese awards, which include airfare, complement the existing Australia to United States Fellowships, which have provided seven Australian nationals an opportunity to study in the United States this year. Awards will be given to applicants who can demonstrate both "academic excellence and potential for new developments in their chosen fields of study." Applicants who are focused on life and ocean sciences, climate-related studies, or resource sustainability in mining, are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications must be submitted by Oct. 31 by 5 p.m. A selection committee will interview short-listed candidates in December, and winners will be notified in January 2006. Founded in 1948, the AAA is the largest nonprofit organization in the United States devoted to relations between the United States and Australia and New Zealand. The association has an active program of corporate, educational, economic, cultural, and social activities. For more information about the program, visit http://www.americanaustralian.org.
