‘The Banjo Lesson’
'Banjo Lesson' by Tanner

‘The Banjo Lesson’ (1893) is perhaps the most well-known painting by Henry Ossawa Tanner, whose mainly non-racial subject matter came under attack in the 1920s and ’30s, according to Gene Jarrett, a Boston University associate professor who spoke at Harvard.
