Toward the end of his life, Gregory wearied of the struggle with his art, finishing one work only to have to 'face ... the void again.' He took his life in 2000, two years after Frances died of cancer.
'Life as Art: Paintings by Gregory Gillespie and Frances Cohen Gillespie,' will be on display at the Fogg Museum through March 28.
